Procedures performed through the Radiology Department include:
General Radiography (x-ray)
Fluoroscopy uses a continuous beam of x-rays to evaluate structures and movement within the body, such as blood traveling through a blood vessel, the diaphragm moving up and down, or food moving through the digestive tract. It can also be used to help locate a foreign body, position a catheter or needle for a procedure, or realign a broken bone. Must be scheduled
Mammography is an x-ray test of the breast (mammary glands) used to screen for breast problems such as a lump, and whether a lump is fluid filled (cyst) or a solid mass. Must be scheduled
MRI and MRA is a method for viewing the human body via images. It allows physicians to see images of the internal organs in the body in great detail from any angle. Must be scheduled
Computerized Tomography (CT Scan) has the ability to image a combination of soft tissue organs, bones, and blood vessels on several different dimensions. Must be scheduled
Nuclear Imaging uses radioactive tracer agents to image the body and treat disease. This procedure looks at both the physiology (functioning) and the anatomy of the body in establishing diagnosis and treatment. Must be scheduled
Ultrasound utilizes high frequency sound waves to obtain images of the abdomen, pelvic structures, pregnancies (including high risk), breasts, and vascular structures. Must be scheduled
